What to expect from the Deschamps list

It is on 7 and 10 October that the French team will play its part in the race for the 2018 World Cup in Bulgaria and then against Belarus.

The leader of his group with a fragile lead over Sweden, France must make a no-fault on his last two meetings to be sure to go to Russia next June, without counting on a Swedish misstep. For these two capital matches, Didier Deschamps will unveil the list of players selected this Thursday afternoon at the headquarters of the FFF. Faithful to his habits, the coach should not upset his group. At the post of goalkeeper, even if Benoît Costil is in shape with Bordeaux, Hugo Lloris, Steve Mandanda and Alphonse Areola should keep their places.
Return of Varane in defense
Behind, Raphaël Varane has to make his return. Wounded during the last rally, the defender of Real Madrid reassured his state of form Tuesday against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League (1-3). His incorporation in the list should lead to the release of Kurt Zouma, still ahead of Laurent Koscielny, Samuel Umtiti and Presnel Kimpembe in the spirit of Deschamps. On the sides, with Benjamin Mendy's very likely package, there is little suspense. Layvin Kurzawa and Lucas Digne will surely be left on the left, while Djibril Sidibé should still be replaced by Christophe Jallet on the right. Sébastien Corchia, who started in the Champions League with Sevilla this week, seems to be going too far to blow the place of Nice.
Without Pogba, Bakayoko postulates
In the middle, Paul Pogba will be absent. Suspended for the first match, the Mancunian is anyway hurt. It remains to be seen whether Deschamps will replace him. For in his last list, the coach had invited 24 players rather than 23, incorporating an additional midfield. If he maintains this course, Tiémoué Bakayoko, who rises in power at Chelsea, could make his return to the Blues, six months after celebrating his first and only selection. Otherwise, the now impossible to circumvent N'Golo Kanté, Blaise Matuidi, Adrien Rabiot and Corentin Tolisso will be of the party. A medium completed by Thomas Lemar and Dimitri Payet, that Deschamps most often likes to integrate in this position in his lists.
A place for Ben Yedder?
Wissam Ben Yedder scored a hat-trick in the Champions League on Tuesday, just before the list of selected players was published. Sufficient to get a first chance with the Blues? Nothing is less sure. Because in attack, there is always traffic jam. Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud (despite a weak playing time), Alexandre Lacazette and Kylian Mbappé are sure to be. It remains to be seen who will accompany them. With the package of Ousmane Dembélé, Kingsley Coman and Florian Thauvin keep their chances, as Nabil Fekir, still prominent with the OL. Kevin Gameiro has not yet regained the fullness of his physical abilities, and Karim Benzema will not be subject to any debate, as the Madrid striker is injured.
